Home with modernist features and unique personality
The location of the building is included in the heritage catalog of Barcelona City Council. A
Noucentista style royal estate, built according to the canons of the late 19th and early 20th
centuries. It is a traditional construction that maintains all the characteristic features of the time: main structure of solid brick load bearing walls, especially thick on the facades, substructure of unidirectional wooden beams with ceramic revolving beam for the formation of the slabs and Nolla pavement, thus giving the house a unique personality. The building is located on a plot between medians and takes the traditional form of the Eixample of Barcelona, with houses with direct ventilation through the main facade where the access to the property takes place and the facade interior of the island, in addition to the interior courtyards of facilities.
The main façade stands out for its symmetry and compositional regularity typical of the time. The openings are superimposed in strict vertical alignment, all of them framed by a small molding on their perimeter and culminating at the top by the brackets that simulate supporting the upper balconies. These balconies, embedded in the same façade, are topped with wrought iron railings. The interior façade, on the other hand, stands out for its gallery, a more permeable space that, due to its constructive characteristics large windows and its orientation, is able to provide a comfortable and bright interior room.
The elongated floor of the house consists of a main corridor that organizes the spaces of the apartment. The front of the façade in Carrer Pau Claris is reserved for the day area, this being the largest, while the main suite room is located at the opposite end, facing the interior of the island, thus prioritizing , tranquility and rest. The other parts of the house are arranged along the corridor, ventilating through the same inner courtyards of the building.
